The maths that made this product

Alumni software is priced for universities with development offices. Most institutions do not have one.

What you actually get

A whole alumni operation, not a directory with extras bolted on

Every module below is in the one licence. There is no add-on store, and nothing is held back for a higher tier, because there is no higher tier.

A directory your alumni will actually use

Searchable by name, batch year, city, country, profession and employer. Members control what is visible. Admins see everything, the public sees what you allow.

Verified members only

Every registration waits for a human to approve it. Check the applicant against your own records before they appear.

Events and RSVPs

Reunions, chapter meets and AGMs, with capacity limits and attendance you can export.

Giving pages

A branded donation page and campaign tracking, with no platform cut on what you raise.

Mentoring

Match students and younger alumni to mentors, with capacity limits so volunteers do not get buried.

Change it without touching code

Logo, colours, menus, footer columns, homepage blocks and per-page SEO all live in the admin panel. Turn whole modules off if you do not want them.

News, newsletters and the archive

Publish news, email your members, run photo albums by era, record your institution's timeline and put your notable alumni on the wall.

It is a real website, not a database with a login

Your alumni get a site worth visiting

Most alumni software gives your members a login screen. AlumDeck gives you a public website with a members area behind it, so the people who never log in still see the reunion, the news and the giving page.

The screenshots on this page are a real AlumDeck install with real content in it, not a mockup.

The honest comparison

AlumDeck against hosted alumni platforms

Hosted platforms do things AlumDeck does not, and that is in the table too. What follows is the shape of the trade, not a hit piece.

AlumDeckHosted alumni SaaS
Cost, year one$49 a year$3,000 to $25,000 a year, typical
Cost, year five$245$15,000 to $125,000
Members includedUnlimitedOften tiered or per record
Where your alumni data sitsYour server, your countryThe vendor's cloud
Price published openly Yes No
Works if the vendor disappears Yes No
You maintain the server Yes No
Backups are your job Yes No
Someone else applies security patches No Yes
Phone support with an account manager No Yes

SaaS figures are ranges from published pricing and third-party review sites, not quotes we were given. The last two rows are the real reason some institutions should buy hosted software instead, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.

Installation

Upload, answer six screens, done

AlumDeck ships with a web installer that checks the server before it writes anything. If your host cannot run it, the installer tells you which line to send them.

Upload and unzip

Into your hosting account, the same way you would upload any website. No terminal, no SSH, no Composer.

Create an empty database

In cPanel, exactly as you would for anything else. The installer tests the connection and proves the user can create tables before it continues.

Answer the wizard

Licence key, server check, database, your site name and admin account, review, install. It writes the configuration for you and then closes itself permanently.

What the $49 covers

One price, and we will tell you exactly where it stops

In the licence

  • Every module, with no add-on store
  • Unlimited members, users and admins
  • Updates while your licence is current
  • Email support while your licence is current
  • Install on one live site, plus a staging copy
  • Readable source, apart from the licence check

If the licence lapses

  • The public alumni site stays online
  • Your data stays yours, in your database
  • Renewal keeps the logins working and the updates coming
  • Your public site stays online, whatever happens to the licence

Not included, on purpose

  • Hosting. You bring your own, from about $3 a month
  • A domain name
  • Someone else running the server for you
  • A cloud version. There is not one, and there will not be one soon

Before you ask

The questions everyone sends first

What happens if the licence lapses?

Your public site is untouched. Every page still loads and keeps its place in Google, with all of your data in your own database. What pauses is signing in, for admins and members alike, until you renew.

Signing in stops, for admins and for members. The public alumni site does not: news, events, history and the archive keep serving, and keep their search rankings. Renewing turns the logins back on the same day.

Is $49 a year really the whole price?

For one installation, yes. Every module is in it, including donations, mentoring, events and the committee pages. There is no add-on store where the useful parts turn out to cost another $29 each.

You need your own hosting, which you probably already have, and a domain. Nothing else.

How many alumni can it hold?

There is no limit in the software. The practical ceiling is your hosting, and ordinary shared hosting handles tens of thousands of member records without complaint.

You are never charged per record, and adding your 5,001st alumnus does not move you into a new tier.

Do I need a developer to install it?

No. If you can upload a zip file to your hosting and create a database in cPanel, you can install AlumDeck. The wizard does the rest and checks the server first so you find out about problems on screen rather than halfway through.

If you would rather someone else did it, any web developer will recognise a standard Laravel application.

Can I move it later?

Yes. It is your files and your database. Copy both to a new host, point the domain, and it runs. Move the licence across from your account, or email us and we will do it - there is no export process to request.

Is there a cloud version?

No, and that is deliberate rather than a gap we plan to fill this year. AlumDeck exists because self-hosting is the whole point: your alumni data stays on infrastructure you control, in your own jurisdiction, at a cost that does not scale with how successful your association becomes.
