Almabase is a hosted alumni engagement platform that sits on top of the CRM an advancement office already runs, with integrations, onboarding and support included in the fee. It suits institutions with funded advancement staff and a system of record they have already committed to. AlumDeck has no CRM connector and does not pretend to: it runs on your own cPanel hosting for $49 a year, and the database stays yours.
AlumDeck vs Graduway
Graduway sells alumni mentoring and networking as a hosted service, normally bought with an implementation project and an annual fee set per institution. It suits schools that want the vendor to run both the platform and the launch. AlumDeck includes mentoring in the same $49 a year licence, but you install it, you run the launch, and you keep the data on your own server.
AlumDeck vs Hivebrite
Hivebrite is a hosted community platform used well beyond alumni work, with deep configuration, segmentation and an API. It suits large organisations that have staff to configure it and a budget that grows with the member count. AlumDeck is deliberately narrower and priced per installation rather than per member, so ten thousand more alumni cost nothing extra.
AlumDeck vs ToucanTech
ToucanTech is a hosted alumni and community platform aimed at schools and universities, bundling the public website, the alumni database and email into one subscription. It suits teams who want the site and the database managed together by the vendor. AlumDeck gives you the same two things on hosting you already pay for, and if the licence lapses the public alumni site keeps serving while only sign-ins pause.

Vaave is a hosted alumni platform with wide take-up among Indian colleges and corporate alumni networks, sold as a yearly subscription per institution. It suits teams who would rather the vendor handled hosting, updates and support than do any of it themselves. AlumDeck is the self-hosted option: $49 a year, unlimited members, and your records sit in a MySQL database you can export any day of the week.
AlumDeck vs CodeCanyon alumni scripts
Marketplace scripts are a one-time purchase, and on the sticker price several of them beat $49 a year. The honest difference is what happens after the sale: support windows are short, updates depend on whether the author is still active, and a security fix is not something you can count on. AlumDeck charges yearly because the maintenance is the product, and the code and database are still installed on your own hosting either way.
The four differences that do most of the work
The same four points decide most of these comparisons, so they are stated once here rather than argued six times.
It runs on hosting you already have
AlumDeck installs on ordinary cPanel hosting with PHP and MySQL. There is no vendor cloud in the path, which also means uptime, backups and patching are your job rather than someone else's.
The price is $49 a year, published
One licence per installation, unlimited members, every module included. The hosted platforms above price per institution or per member and quote on request, which is why this site does not print numbers for them that it has not been given.
The database is yours
Alumni records live in a MySQL database on your own server. You can export it, back it up, or hand it to a developer without asking anyone, and moving away later does not depend on a vendor export queue.
A lapsed licence does not take the site down
If you stop renewing, the public alumni website keeps serving. Sign-ins pause until the licence is renewed, so the pages your alumni link to and search engines index stay up.
Where AlumDeck is the wrong answer
There is no CRM connector and no single sign-on with an institutional identity provider. If your advancement operation is built around either one, a hosted platform is the better buy and the comparison pages say so. The same goes for teams with nobody willing to own a server.
