AlumDeck vs CodeCanyon alumni scripts
This is the one comparison where the prices match: $49. The difference is that a script is $49 once and AlumDeck is $49 a year. So the question is not price, it is what the yearly part buys, and whether you want it.
AlumDeck
- $49 a year; updates and email support included
- Every feature in the one download, no add-on store
- Nightly backups with a weekly restore test
- History, In Memoriam and a hall of fame, built in
vsThe same $49, paid once or paid every year
A marketplace script
- $45 to $49 once for the two alumni scripts listed
- Donation and election add-ons at $29 each
- 6 months of support, extendable to 12 at most
- Sales counts and buyer ratings you can read
What the marketplace sells
The market, in four numbers.
We searched CodeCanyon for alumni software and read the support policy that covers every item.
- 8items found by a CodeCanyon search for "alumni"
- $49the best-selling alumni script, once; the other is $45
- $29each for its donation and election add-ons
- 6months of item support included; 12 at most
From CodeCanyon search results for "alumni" and the item support policy, both checked September 2026. The eight results also include a $129 multi-tenancy add-on, two $30 alumni add-ons for school management systems, and a school management system.
Five years, both ways
Where the script wins on price.
A like-for-like view over one, three and five years. Your hosting costs the same either way.
| What you buy | Price | After 1 year | After 3 years | After 5 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AlumDeck | $49 a year | $49 | $147 | $245 |
| Top alumni script | $49 once | $49 | $49 | $49 |
| Script and 2 add-ons | $49 + $29 + $29 once | $107 | $107 | $107 |
| The same, supported | Extensions at the author's price | $107 + support | $107 + support | $107 + support |
The honest part: a script with both add-ons costs $107 once, and AlumDeck passes that in its third year. If all you want is a working copy that never changes, the script is cheaper, and marketplace items keep receiving the updates their authors publish. What the yearly $49 buys is email support every year rather than for the first six months, a product under active development with a public roadmap, and releases dated in a public changelog.
The fair part
What marketplace scripts do better
Five real advantages. We would weigh all of them if we were buying.
Before you buy any alumni script
Five checks, including for ours.
Add up the add-ons you need
Open the seller's other items before you buy. Donations, elections and multi-tenancy are sold separately for the leading script. AlumDeck has no add-on store.
Read the support terms, not the description
Support lasts 6 months unless extended, and never covers installation. Look at how old the unanswered comments are, and when the item was last updated.
Check the PHP version against your host
An older script may need a PHP version your host is retiring. AlumDeck needs PHP 8.3 and MySQL or MariaDB, and the installer checks 14 extensions before it starts.
Buy it from the source, never nulled
A nulled copy has been modified by someone you cannot identify, and it will hold your members' names, emails and employers. This applies to AlumDeck as much as anything else.
Try the admin side of the demo
The public pages look alike across products. The admin panel is where your committee will spend its evenings, so sign in and add an event, a member and a gift.
Decide
Which one fits you
Choose AlumDeck if
- You want support and security fixes every year, not only for six months
- You want donations records, heritage pages and backups without add-ons
- You would rather read a dated changelog than a comment thread
- Your committee changes, and the next one needs someone to email
Choose a marketplace script if
- You want to pay once and never budget for it again
- Buyer ratings and sales counts matter more to you than anything we say
- You need only a directory or one narrow feature
- You have found a script with a recent update and active support replies
Questions
AlumDeck and scripts, asked plainly
A one-time purchase never expires. Why pay every year?
Because the upkeep is the product. The yearly licence pays for the work that continues after you buy: fixes, the releases on the roadmap, and the email support that answers your committee. If you stop renewing, nothing is taken away: the files and database stay yours, the public site keeps serving, and only signing in pauses after a 21-day grace period.
Is a marketplace script cheaper than AlumDeck?
Over several years, usually yes. The best-selling alumni script on CodeCanyon costs $49 once; with its donation and election add-ons it is $107. AlumDeck passes $107 in its third year. The difference buys continued support and a product whose releases are dated in public.
What is a nulled script, and why does it matter?
A nulled copy is a paid script given away with its licence check removed. Someone you cannot identify has changed the code before you install it, and it never receives security updates. An alumni site holds names, email addresses and employers, so this matters. It applies to AlumDeck too: install what you bought, from where you bought it.
Do marketplace scripts include support?
Items that offer support include 6 months from purchase, which you can extend up to a maximum of 12 months at a time. Installation help and customisation are not part of it. Buyers still receive the item's updates after support ends (CodeCanyon item support policy, checked September 2026).
